DescOperă – Open Air Festival

An open-air classical music festival in the Orheiul Vechi Reserve, attracting over 5,000 visitors each year.

DescOperă – A Unique Open-Air Classical Experience

Every year, in the village of Butuceni, at the heart of the Orheiul Vechi Reserve, music finds a stage unlike any other.

DescOperă Festival brings opera and classical music out of traditional concert halls and into nature, transforming a spectacular landscape into a living scene of sound and emotion. Surrounded by cliffs, open skies, and authentic village life, audiences experience performances in a natural amphitheater with remarkable acoustics.

What began as an inspired idea has grown into one of Moldova’s most distinctive cultural events, attracting over 5,000 visitors annually from both local and international audiences. Yet, its essence remains the same – an authentic connection between music, place, and people.

DescOperă Festival returns on 19–21 June 2026 for its anniversary edition, marking 10 years of bringing opera and classical music into one of Moldova’s most spectacular natural settings. What began as a simple idea — to move music beyond traditional concert halls — has grown into an annual event attracting over 5,000 visitors from Moldova and abroad.

This anniversary edition brings together some of Moldova’s most renowned orchestras and performers, offering a rich program of classical music and opera in a truly spectacular natural setting.

Program highlights:
19 June – Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic “Serghei Lunchevici”
20 June – Recital by the National Opera and Ballet Theatre “Maria Bieșu”
21 June – National Symphony Orchestra of Teleradio-Moldova, conducted by Maestro Gheorghe Mustea
A special guest will also join this year’s edition

What makes this year truly special is a unique scenic concept: each evening, the stage will be placed in a different location, transforming the landscape and creating a new atmosphere every night.
